COMPLETED: St James Lutheran College Hospitality & Tuckshop Café

Our partnership with the St James Lutheran College community has spanned several years and recently, we celebrated the opening of their new, Novum-designed Hospitality Centre and Tuckshop “Jimmy’s Café”!

Along with the St James team, we realised that a Tuckshop is much more than a place to grab a quick bite. Jimmy’s is a vibrant, inclusive, and nurturing space that fosters community, growth, and wellbeing within the school. Beyond its impact on students, the café’s location at the entrance to the campus also strengthens the bond between the school and parents.

Its multifaceted role in creating a positive and engaging environment cannot be overstated. Through nourishment, education, and fostering a sense of belonging, the tuckshop embodies the very essence of St James’ community spirit.

The new Hospitality kitchen’s adjacency to the new Tuckshop café was a deliberate attempt to create a dynamic hub of culinary exploration. It serves as a space where students can unleash their creativity, develop essential food preparation skills, and foster a deep appreciation for the Hospitality industry.

With state-of-the-art facilities and expert teaching staff, the training kitchen offers a hands-on experience that prepares students for a future in the Hospitality industry, with visibility into Jimmy’s Café real-world commercial kitchen next door.

Through experiential learning, teamwork, and a focus on excellence, the training kitchen instils in students a passion for culinary arts, customer service, and attention to detail. By bridging the gap between theory, practice and real-world work opportunities, it equips students with the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills required to excel in the ever-evolving world of Hospitality.

Our team worked closely with the school to evolve and modernise the school’s existing architectural style, and along with other recently completed and future Novum-designed projects, this building will create a holistically considered precinct of dynamic learning and community spaces.

We look forward to sharing more recently completed projects at the school in the coming months!
