Team Novum has been eagerly awaiting a new landmark building for St James Lutheran College due to commence construction in 2023.
Novum’s original Concept Design for the project was commissioned by the College in 2018, but was put on hold to prioritise other Novum-designed projects including the recently completed Tuckshop Café, Hospitality Centre, and Senior School General Learning Areas, as well as the Student Services and Performing Arts building projects which are both currently under construction.
The Hall project will be the final piece of a vibrant new Master Planned precinct which responds to St James’ desire to bolster their connections with the local community and presents a fresh, friendly face to their main street frontage. The Master Plan intentionally located community spaces alongside the entrance to attract parents and visitors into the campus, encouraging interactions between students, staff, parents and visitors.
The creation of a distinct “front door” to the campus will allow first time visitors to find their way around, while also centralising pedestrian traffic in a dynamic, active location, putting the College’s welcoming culture on show.
Flowing on from the school’s “front door,” buildings are clustered around a new “pedestrian street” which offers glimpses into dynamic learning spaces, including flexible, contemporary classrooms, Tuckshop Café, Hospitality Kitchen, Performing Arts, Reception and Student Services.
The Hall will play host to school gatherings, performances and other community events and features a full-size performance stage, backstage areas and band practice room.
